Ik it's a show I'm just sharing my opinion of the episode --don't blame me for your lack of passion. Personally Green Lantern is my favorite Justice League character so. And the second episode doesn't make it any better, the Sheriff lady is like "this is my town." Ok Hitler???? Dumbass bitch, I'm glad Hal just blew her off lmao. I'm really enjoying the show so far and I do like the green lantern construct effects BUT THEY ARE NOT GLOWING AND THAT IS SO ANNOYING I feel like I'm just watching an emerald thing not a GREEN LANTERN construct yk? But I know this is for budget reasons since the VFXs would be way harder to produce and compose and overall make them look good and that's money money money but well it's a shame.
BUT the constructs disappearing like dust is a bad choice imo they should just flash out of existence they are GREEN LANTERNS for fuck sake. I also must say that I hate the decision of not making them glow when they are flying nor their eyes HELL nor superheroes not having secret identities like what???? And also their suits actually being suits is such bullshit lmao. Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie is way better idc what anybody says AND YES IM AWARE THIS DECISION ARE MOSTLY MARKETING AND BUDGET INFORMED ONES (toys, apperances [yk for the kids with cancer and what not], etc) but none of them having a freaking mask is actually driving me over the edge. And the second episode doesn't help either you shall see, but c'mon there are 2 things a Green Lantern must protect with their life (just to save themselves btw) and it's their ring and their lantern. So anyone knowing who Hal Jordan is --specially in this town-- and then he leaving it there in his shanty motel room to go to ice planet and kiss his BFF is just jarring as fuck, might as well bring it with you. Oh well don't let my criticism deter you from watching the show tho. I THINK IS GREAT SO FAR. Do I love the treatment my boi Hal is getting? No. NOT AT ALL. But I'm letting them cook, he must be this way for a reason right? And his BFF being Patergast is perfect. Starting with the positive [Btw I actually watched it in HBO Max. I took the time to ask my family for the code so I could use it and watch it on release, what can I say I wanted to believe] HAL JORDAN IS BY FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR AND I'M TALKING LIGHT YEARS BY FAR the best thing in this show, is just a shame we didn't get a show about him and rather we got a show about granted a potentially great John Stewart, and I do love Aaron Pierre as him don't get me wrong, but well he can only do so much which a script like this. And I'm not going to lie the ending ignoring parts of John's time at the end is a really FEEL GOOD ending but like I said only if you ignore everything else about this episode but the scenes between Hal and John [even Sinestro sucked].
I really do wish we had a Green Lantern show about THE GREATEST GREEN LANTERN.

As far as plot twists go, I just feel terrible for feeling this way about that character, I really do think a bigot wrote them like, bottom line, lmao.

I'll wait to rewatch it in it's entirety to give my breakdown but overall, the show is a Green Lantern show only as an afterthought. I would like to say it's like the shit Disney pulls by calling a show Maul or Obi-Wan just to shoe horn a new completely irrelevant character that somehow has more screen time and are more important to the show than what the show is named after, let alone that this the why I even watch them to begin with. In other words: A SCAM. A FRAUD. A SYSTEMATIC, INTENTIONAL AND PLANNED BETRAYAL OF THE AUDIENCE THE SHOW IS SUPPOSED TO APPEAL TO.
But this one does feel a bit different. It feels like they wanted a “True Detective S1” esk show and then just pushed the green lantern thing over it to sell it as a Green Lantern/superhero show or rather sell it to DC or Warner or someone the point is clear it wasn’t conceived as a Green Lantern show. But even if not as egregious, I would still classify it as a scam. At least is not what Disney does and the show isn't even called Green Lanterns so ig we can take it as an Extended Universe show rather than canon....

And when it comes to a Green Lantern show I'll give it a 3 and that's just cuz I like Hal, John and Guy Gartner, even if Hal isn't the canon Hal I would expect from an actual good reinterpretation or adaptation of the character. I really need to see what happened to him after the 10 year old recording he did or the Halogram [good even low hanging fruit pun ngl lmao]. They tried to pretend they are close to Christopher Nolan with the whole timeline jumps but IT DOESNT WORK AT ALL at least by watching the show in a weekly manner. They did Hal Jordan dirty, they should have never killed him. I can't believe it but I wasted my time, this show should have been called Lanterns: Replacement Contractors. I am so fucking sad for Hal but love ma boy pierre too and happy for him to be finally Green Lantern BUT NOT LIKE THIS. THIS ALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN EP 1 conclusion and then a story solely focused on John Stewart.
